National Cocoa Day on December 13th is a perfect occasion to enjoy a warm and comforting cup of tea-infused cocoa. Here's a delicious recipe to celebrate the day:

Tea-Infused Cocoa Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of milk (whole milk, almond milk, or any milk of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 heaping teaspoon of either our Peppermint Frost tea, Cape Lookout Mocha, Fog Horn Grey)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream or marshmallows (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Heat the Milk: Pour the milk into a small saucepan and place it over medium heat. Heat the milk, but do not let it come to a boil. You want it hot but not scalding. Stir occasionally to prevent a skin from forming.

  2. Steep the Tea: While the milk is heating, place the tea bag in a cup and pour hot (not boiling) water over it. Allow the tea to steep for the recommended time, usually 3-5 minutes.

  3. Mix Cocoa and Sugar: In a separate bowl, mix the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. You can adjust the sugar to your taste - add more if you prefer it sweeter.

  4. Combine Cocoa Mixture and Milk: Once the milk is hot (but not boiling), remove it from the heat and remove the tea bag from the cup. Slowly pour the hot milk into the cocoa mixture, stirring continuously to dissolve the cocoa and sugar completely.

  5. Add Vanilla: Stir in the vanilla extract to the cocoa mixture.

  6. Combine with Tea: Now, pour the tea you brewed earlier into the cocoa mixture. Stir well to combine.

  7. Reheat if Necessary: If the cocoa needs to be reheated, gently heat it while stirring, but do not let it boil.

  8. Serve: Pour the tea-infused cocoa into a mug, and top it with whipped cream or marshmallows, if desired.

  9. Enjoy: Sip your tea-infused cocoa slowly, savoring the unique combination of flavors. Happy National Cocoa Day!

Feel free to customize this recipe with your favorite tea and adjust the sweetness to your liking. It's a delightful way to celebrate this special day dedicated to cocoa.
